However, once the law firm has accepted an assignment bid, the estimated total cost of the assignment must be deposited into a K-Lawyers escrow account, or 50% of the total cost if the payment is over $500 (to read more see Escrow Payment System).

For large payments (over $500), payment is released to the contract lawyer in two steps: first at the halfway mark, and the rest upon completion of the assignment. For payments under $500, the money is transferred in once step upon completion of the assignment. Once an assignment is completed and paid for, K-Lawyers will deduct its 9% fee from the contract lawyer’s end.

*Note, law firms using credit cards or PayPal to pay for completed assignments will be charged a processing fee.
